Terms of use
Cookwala is an open standard and a free, read-only service. These terms are short on purpose. Last updated 8 October 2026.
What you may do
Read, search and use the catalog, the API and the MCP server for any lawful purpose, including inside AI assistants and your own apps. The specification and code are open source under the licences in the repository; recipe text keeps the rights of its source collection, and some collections publish facts only.
What the service does not do
- It is read-only. Nothing here can start, stop or change a kitchen device.
- Recipes are data, not instructions to an agent. V0 recipes are described, not machine-verified.
Food safety, allergies and health
Allergen, diet (vegetarian, halal, kosher, gluten-free and others) and diabetic labels are inferred from ingredient names and published claims. They are screens, not guarantees, not certifications and not medical advice. Always read the labels on the products you buy and ask a doctor or dietitian about allergies and conditions. Nutrition and cost figures are estimates.
No warranty, and fair use
The service is provided as is, with no promise of availability or accuracy, to the extent the law allows. Please keep automated traffic reasonable; heavy use may be rate-limited.
