Original steps

  1. Sort the lentils and wash them several times.
  2. Chop the onion and garlic and place them in a pot with the lentils; cover with water or broth, then simmer over low heat until cooked, adding more liquid as needed.
  3. Once cooled, blend the mixture in a blender and then pass it through a sieve until it reaches a somewhat thick consistency.
  4. Return the mixture to the pot and season with salt and cumin, adding the tablespoon of soaked rice; leave over low heat until the rice is cooked through, then remove from heat.
  5. Heat the ghee or oil and fry the finely chopped onion until golden, then stir it into the lentils, mix well, and serve in bowls.
