Original steps
- Prepare a bowl or a deep dish and place the required amount of licorice inside.
- Mix the licorice with a very small amount of water using your fingers just to moisten it, then cover and leave for about 5 hours to ferment.
- Prepare a pitcher with a wire strainer placed on top, covered with a cheesecloth, then place the moistened licorice paste inside the cloth.
- Pour water through the filter drop by drop, or pour water slowly, until the desired color and flavor are achieved.
- Place the pitcher in the refrigerator, then strain the mixture through the cloth.
