Original steps

  1. Whisk the eggs well, then add the cornstarch or custard powder and mix thoroughly.
  2. Boil the milk with the sugar over medium heat, then remove from the stove.
  3. Add the egg mixture to the milk and stir well, then return to low heat while whisking constantly until it thickens for use, then sprinkle with vanilla.
  4. Mix in the chopped chocolate or cocoa powder until the color turns brown.
