  1. Boil the sweet potatoes thoroughly, then peel and mash them with a fork.

  3. Grease a baking dish or Pyrex with butter, pour the sweet potato mixture into it, and bake in the oven until cooked through.
  4. Sprinkle the top with sugar, then place the dish under the oven broiler until it turns golden brown.
