Original steps

  1. Grease a rectangular or round baking pan thoroughly with melted ghee.
  2. Cut the phyllo sheets to fit the width of the pan.
  3. Place half of the sheets one by one into the pan, lightly brushing each layer with warm milk and a little melted ghee.
  4. Add the cream and nut filling.
  5. Cover the filling with the remaining sheets, following the same method used for the first half.
  6. Brush the surface with warm ghee and bake in a medium-heat oven until cooked and golden brown.
  7. Dissolve the sugar in the milk and slowly pour it over the surface of the pan, then turn off the oven and cover the pan.
  8. The cream filling can be replaced with clotted cream (ashta) or custard with nuts.
