Original steps

  1. Soak the fava beans in cold water, changing the water twice daily for one week.
  2. Once sprouted, boil the beans in boiling water with sliced onions seasoned with salt, pepper, cumin, and crushed cardamom; cover and leave to simmer over low heat.
  3. Once cooked, squeeze lemon juice over them to taste.
  4. Serving suggestion: The beans can be eaten with their skins in their cooking broth topped with cumin, oil, and lemon, or the skins can be peeled and the beans boiled in the broth with added oil, cumin, and lemon.
