Cookwala / For

For everyone who cares about food, waste, jobs, the climate and the future

Cookwala is a way to write a recipe so that anyone, or anything, can cook it safely, and a way for food that would be thrown away to reach someone who needs it. It is free, it belongs to no company, and it says what it does not know.

Why it matters to you

A machine that follows a Cookwala recipe refuses to guess: no oil thermometer, no deep frying. Your recipe keeps your name wherever it is cooked. Your household's facts stay in your house. A food bank could rescue more with the phones it already has; that is what the pilot is designed to test. And the whole thing is governed in public, with its critics published next to it.

Ways in, light to deep

  1. Try the dry run. Change the device and watch a step be refused; read why.
  2. Play a simulator. A family's dinner, two cities, a country, the world, with the protocol on and off.
  3. Read the recipes. Nine Egyptian dishes written so a machine can check them, in English and Arabic.
  4. Write one recipe you love. Your name stays on it.
  5. Tell a food bank or a school. The concept note is written for that conversation.

First success, under 15 minutes

Open the playground, pick koshari and the device without thermometers, and read why the crisp onions are refused.

The path after that

  1. Curiosity → one recipe → one conversation with a kitchen that could use it
